Batman #6 Review

Batman #6 is written by Scott Snyder with art by Greg Capullo.

The issue opens exactly where we left off with issue 5.  The Court of Owls have decided it's time to make their centuries old presence in Gotham known to Batman.  Trapped in their maze, Batman begins to lose his sanity as he battles The Court's assassin, The Talon.  Batman is caught off guard and taken by the Talon who believes Batman is finally broken.  The Talon seeks the will of the court on how Batman should be finished off.

Obviously, The Court didn't do their homework well enough to know that Batman always has a plan.  Escaping from the court badly beaten, Batman vows to return for all of them.  The court decides to do away with the current Talon and, realizing the task ahead of them, awaken several Talons to take on the bat.

There was an obvious push from DC to not only freshen up the heroes with the new 52 relaunch, but to freshen up the villains as well.  Of the titles I have picked up, The Court of Owls have been the most intriguing of the new villains.  There is a clear, in-depth back story with the court and the fact that there has been a part of his city that Batman has been unaware of makes them that much more interesting.

DC is gearing up for the largest tie-in since September's relaunch with "Night of the Owls" running through most of the batbooks this May.
